GENERAL DESCRIPTION
TCN-GATEWAY communication node
The TCN-GATEWAY communication node is the key component of Train Communication Network. It can be used to communicate both within a vehicle and between the vehicles in compliance with the IEC 61375-1 Standard. The node consists of a configurable set of modules designed to interconnect the following buses: communication Wire Train Bus and vehicle communication Multifunction Vehicle Bus and the CAN bus.
Moreover, the product presented herein meets the Italian Railroad Standard #308514 adopted to elaborate into more detail some specification requirements for bus & node redundancy.
This solution streamlines the transfer of information through discrete wires within a train and creates a backed-up high-speed series communication route, which makes the information delivery markedly more reliable.
TCN
is a train communication system, which interconnects individual devices installed in train vehicles. It can provide for communication with e.g. controlled drives and other remotely actuated vehicle systems (e.g. doors, lighting, etc.). Furthermore, the system provides for remote diagnostics of various equipment and data transmission of the Passenger Information System.
Basic tasks
- Redundant data transfer between all process nodes (both within a vehicle and within a train), vehicle on-board computer and the controls located in the driver's cab
- Inauguration, i.e. recognition of a connected node
- Shunting vehicles to make a train and re-marshalling the vehicles (vehicle detachment and re-attachment); changes in technological nodes in all vehicles of a train
- Recognition of the front vehicle; recognition of direction; recognition of the left and right sides
MAIN TECHNICAL PARAMETERS
Generally
The TCN-GATEWAY node is available in two versions:
a) GW-TCN for data transfer between WTB and MVB buses
b) GW-WTB/CAN for data transfer between WTB and CAN buses
GW-TCN configuration
GW-TCN/A (redundant) comprises two identical modules. Both the modules are hooked to the same MVB bus where they stay active simultaneously. As regards the WTB bus, just one of the modules can be active at a moment. This configuration eliminates data exchange fault between the MVB and WTB buses in case of a single failure.
TCN-GATEWAY parameters
- WTB redundant communication bus complies with the IEC 61375-1 (TCN) Standard
- Ambient operation temperature -40 .. +70 °C
- Storage temperature -40 .. +85 °C
- Relative humidity up to 95% (non-condensing)
- Vibration resistance 5g
- Impact resistance 5g/2g/1g
- Power supply 24 V DC dle EN 50 155
- Dimensions - height 6U, width 84 TE (two redundant nodes in a cartridge), depth 290 mm (less the connectors) - see the Drawing
- Protection level - no less than IP 20
Communication interface
- RS 232, only TxD, RxD, Gnd
- WTB according to IEC 61375-1, Chapter 4
- MVB EMD (mean distance) according to IEC 61375-1, Chapter 3
- CAN (ISO 11898) according to EN 50325-1
Log-on time, transfer time, performance
The equipment meets the following ST FS 308031 requirements:
- Time of a telegram transfer between the "traffic store" memory space of any two devices connected to TCN is 100 ms or less;
- Time needed to log on into the TCN network is max. 1.4 s;
- Minimal cycle time on MVB is 8 ms.
TCN GATEWAY can also operate when configured as a non-redundant network.
